School Business

This week we have been introduced to the power of social networking. Many kids my age have become millionaires through social media. This week we have all been challenged to create our own business, Mya, Caitlyn and I have chosen to do a clothing line, called Midnight Clothing NZ. We have already created our logo and have made an email, and a website. I know that from this experience there will be benefits, like later on in life when I'm trying to get a job, I'll know how to work with people.

Term 2 Holidays Refection

Well, in the holidays, my family and I went away to Westport for a night. We spent our time watching my brother play basketball. The car rides there and back were really windy, and I get car sick, so guess what happened next. I had to walk around Charleston so we could keep driving up to Westport, then on the way back it was Punakaiki where we had to take a stop. So that was the first weekend of the holidays gone, and from then on all I did was west coast netball and west coast basketball training.

Programming concepts

In class we have been learning a lot of different ways to demonstrate programming concepts.
We have been using scratch at the start, and now we are learning to use python trinket and code combat, in witch they all use some sort of 'loop' to minimize the amount of code that we have to write. When you are using a loop you can write only one set of code rather than reapeting yourself to the computer over and over again, for example:


number_list = [1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10]

tina.color("green")
for number in number_list: 
    tina.forward(number*10)
    tina.left(60)

the highlighted are an example of a loop.

Programming concepts

We are learning to demonstrate programming concepts.
I am using Python Trinket to work out a challenge.
I can use the 'for' loop to write a smart and/or efficient code.
The 'for' loop has become useful and we are discovering that instead of writing the same code over and over, we can just use the 'for' loop, which does the same thing but is quicker.
I can use the for loop to create more interesting programs.

In the maze challenge the turtle has to go through the maze and instead of using more code than we need to, we can cut it down to:
for i in range(0,3):
  myPen.forward(70)
  myPen.right(90)
  myPen.forward(120)
  myPen.left(90)
  myPen.forward(45)

Working With Python Trinket

As a year 7 student at Paroa school, I am learning to use Python and Pygames to design a simple Turtle game. I have also used trinket to work with the turtle game. I will learn how to import the turtle graphics and then program the turtle to do various activities by creating variables. I will be using a Python IDLE window to run my game.
